Stephen Brugger
Executive Director

Stephen Brugger has served as the Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Denmark since 2001. He also serves on the executive committee of the European Council of American Chambers of Commerce (AmChams in Europe).

Born in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania in 1957, Stephen grew up near San Francisco, California and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo in 1983. He first came to Denmark as an exchange student in 1981, and returned in 1984 to work for the architecture firm of Friis & Moltke, where he designed and consulted on a wide range of projects in Denmark and the United States. From 1991 to 1998 he was a partner with Brugger & Nielsen, a multidisciplinary architecture and design firm with offices in Aarhus and Copenhagen. Stephen and his Danish wife Michaela live in Nivå with their daughter Josephina.

Ole Schmidt
Policy and Communications Manager

Ole Schmidt is Policy and Communications Manager at the American Chamber of Commerce in Denmark. He has worked extensively with managing the political interests of companies and has experience from working both in government and in business organisations. Ole is an economist from the University of Copenhagen and has studied and worked abroad for extended periods of time. He lives in Copenhagen with Gitte and their four children.

Therese Oliver
Events & Member Services Manager

Therese Oliver is the Events & Member Services Manager at American Chamber of Commerce, Denmark. She is a California native, and has many years experience in media and event management for Fortune 500 companies in Silicon Valley. From 2002-2010, she was the Executive Media Producer on Cisco’s Annual Global Sales meeting, where she consulted with Cisco's global executive management teams on executive event presentations, aligning messaging and creative goals; as well as leading a large team of individuals to deliver the program. From 1999-2001, she headed up Zentropa Commerzials, a division of Zentropa Films.  Prior to this, she owned her own corporate video production company in San Francisco, working directly with many high level clients including The GAP, Inc., Intel, Apple and Sun Microsystems.  She holds a BA Degree in Communcations from San Francisco State University.

Lisbeth Metasch
Administrative Assistant

Lisbeth Metasch is the Administration Assistant at American Chamber of Commerce Denmark. Before joining AmCham Denmark she has 10 years’ experience working in different administrative positions - latest as a Corporate Assistant with Citco (Denmark) ApS servicing clients in administration of Companies (Holding & Financial) in Denmark and Sweden; and before with Dong Energy and McDonald’s. She has an AP Degree in International Business and Marketing from Niels Brock. 

Mary Sandberg
Communications Assistant

Mary Sandberg is the Communications Assistant at American Chamber of Commerce in Denmark. A Minnesota-native, Mary moved to Madison to pursue a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin. After earning her BA in Journalism, she moved to Copenhagen and began working at a small advertising and consultancy agency, servicing local and international clients, primarily in the Consumer Electronics sector. With a background in professional writing and marketing, Mary soon developed a keen interest for visual design. Today, Mary is studying towards a Master in IT in Digital Design and Communication at the Copenhagen IT University.
