On March 21, more than 100 business executives gathered at Danske Bank's Kuppelsal for AmCham's 2017 Annual General Meeting and Transatlantic Summit, which featured an impressive lineup of speakers.
The summit opened with a welcome from the U.S. Embassy's Chargés d'Affairés and AmCham Honorary President, Laura Lochman, who highlighted the importance of the strong diplomatic and trade relations between Denmark and the U.S.
Deputy Chief of Mission at the Danish Embassy in Washington DC, Lars Bo Møller, shared his view on Danish businesses in the U.S. and stated that despite some rumors to the contrary, Danish businesses are doing very well - and the transatlantic relationship remains strong.
Following the introductions, Danske Bank's Chief Economist, Las Olsen provided attendees with an update on the Transatlantic Economy.
Olsen highlighted how the U.S. has become one of Denmark's top three trading partners - driven by trade in pharmaceuticals and maritime transport - and how the U.S. is hugely important in terms of Danish portfolio investments.
This year’s Summit keynote speaker featured former Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs Uffe Ellemann-Jensen, who shared his insightful perspective on the current and future state of the transatlantic relationship.
Ellemann-Jensen also spoke of the long standing historic, diplomatic and trade relations that the two economies have shared and reminded the ausience that trade across borders has always been a means to prosperity.
The Summit concluded with Laura Lochman and Lars Bo Møller jointly announcing Vestas as the winner of the 2017 Transatlantic Company of the Year. To read more about the Transatlantic Company, click here
