On September 25, AmCham, in partnership with Invest in Denmark, held the 2017 Foreign Investment Summit at Eigtveds Pakhus.

This annual summit highlights foreign companies in Denmark; their important contribution to the Danish economy; and what Denmark can do to improve framework conditions in order to attract and retain foreign companies – ultimately creating new jobs and growth.

This year's theme focused on the UK referendum - Brexit - and the potential opportunities for Denmark that arise in the wake of the UK's decision to leave the EU.

Since many international companies are affected by the political situation in the UK, the event included a timely discussion on the current state of Brexit and how Denmark could capitalize in the future.

Bjarke Møller from Think Tank set the scene with 'An Update on Brexit'. Roel Spee from IBM Global Services presented their report on '2017 Global Location Trends'.

Rounding out the speeches was Minister of Finance Kristian Jensen, who shared his thoughts on ‘The economic state of Denmark, and its ability to attract investments and foreign talent’

Panel Discussion
The event also featured a panel discussion titled 'The Elements of Attraction' which was moderated by Bjarke Møller, Think Tank Europa.

The panel discussed the importance of focusing on Denmark’s core competences in order to attract investments in a global, competitive world; as well as Denmark's bid to host the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

Panelists included:
  • Andrew Man, Citi Denmark
  • Minister of Finance Kristian Jensen
  • Joachim Sperling, Axcelfuture
  • Thomas Sendorovitz, Danish Medicines Agency
