IBM’s Global Location Trends report is an annual survey that focuses on the latest trends in corporate location selection, and tracks where companies are locating and expanding their businesses around the world.

The global economy is growing stronger and the growth outlook is generally positive but there are uncertainties such as the outcome of Brexit, geopolitical concerns, global trade discussions and digitalization that shroud the future prospects of investment flows. According to Roel Spee, digitalization in particular will have a great impact on companies’ future reasons and strategies behind placing their investments.

IBM’s report shows that Denmark scores well on knowledge-intensive investments. The inward FDI growth in Denmark is particularly driven by high value job creation investments where Denmark ranks second – just behind Ireland and ahead of Singapore. According to Roel Spee, Denmark is very successful in attracting its fair share of ICT and life science investments – and the inward investments are also in the high end of the scale, creating a high value per employee.
