AmCham Engages with Members and Stakeholders at 2018 Folkemødet

On June 14 to 17, AmCham Denmark joined several member companies at the annual political festival “Folkemøde”, which takes place on the Danish island of Bornholm.

This year’s Folkemøde broke all the records. More than 113,000 politicians, NGO's, company representatives, public affairs professionals, media personalities and citizens participated in nearly 3000 registered events during the four-day festival.

AmCham’s Stephen Brugger and Sandra Viborg attended a variety of Folkemøde events in line with our general purpose of strengthening the voice of international business and promoting innovation, jobs and growth in Denmark.

How to Make Globalization Work for All
On Thursday, AmCham's Executive Director Stephen Brugger participated in a debate arranged by the EU Commission, which included a broad discussion on how globalization affects trade, businesses and international politics.

Panelists included Mogens Lykketoft (S); Canadian Ambassador to Denmark Emi Furuya; Ditte Juul-Jørgensen (EU Commission) and AmCham's Stephen Brugger. The debate was moderated by Director of Think Tank Europe Bjarke Møller.  

Denmark as an International Life Science Hub
On Friday, AmCham, Medicoindustrien and LIF organized a panel debate on the framework conditions for the Danish life science industry, which included a discussion on the government's life science strategy, the Danish research environment and the access to talent, both in terms of attracting and retaining skilled labor.

U.S. Ambassador Carla Sands shared a few opening remarks, where she highlighted the Danish life science industry as a great example of a strong U.S.-DK partnership, with many U.S. companies continously investing in Denmark.

Panelist included Susanne Hyldelund (Trade Council); Richard Wright (Roche); Tisha Boatman (Siemens) and Geoff Eich (Amgen). AmCham's Executive Director Stephen Brugger moderated the session.

American Barbecue
On Saturday afternoon, AmCham members, political stakeholders and “Friends of America” gathered at Hotel Allinge for AmCham’s ever popular American Barbecue. U.S. Ambassador Carla Sands and AmCham Chair Angela Naef (DuPont) were on hand to greet the more than 70 guests.
