Nordic CEO Network roundtable

On August 24, AmCham’s Nordic CEO Network gathered at Bayer’s office in Copenhagen for a roundtable discussion on innovation in the Nordics, and what companies are doing to attract future investment to their Nordic organizations.

The event, held in partnership with Copenhagen Capacity, explored what differentiates the Nordics from other European countries. The technologically advanced Nordics are considered to be among the most innovative regions in Europe. A focus on education and developing a skilled workforce, along with progressive social & sustainability policies leads to a higher drive towards innovation than other more traditional regions in the EU.

Speakers included Bayer’s Managing Director & Head of Crop Science Nordics Marion McPherson, along with Medical Director for the Pharma Division Ralf Ackermann, who shared some of Bayer’s innovation initiatives in the region. Both cited that the flexibility, agility and level of innovation in the region were very strong, and that the ability to develop a network of partnerships here was vital to their success.

The roundtable culminated in a best practices discussion on innovation, competitiveness, sustainability and the ability to showcase the Nordics as an innovation hub.
