FMC is recognized for their valuable investments in the Danish crop protection industry and its strategic decision of placing its European HQ and innovation center in Denmark.

An independent jury consisting of Jørgen Bardenfleth, Chairman (Lyngsoe Systems et al.), Karsten Dybvad, CEO at DI and Sanna Suvanto-Haarsae, Chair (Bo Concept, TCM, etc.) has selected FMC Corporation as the recipient of AmCham's 2018 Foreign Company of the Year.

In naming FMC as the 2018 Foreign Company of the Year, the jury has placed particular emphasis on the growth of its Danish activities, the company’s valuable investments in relation to the Danish crop industry, which makes up a considerable part of the Danish economy.

Spokesperson for the jury, Jørgen Bardenfleth, says: “With the acquisition of Cheminova and key assets from Dupont’s crop protection business, as well as the establishment of a new European HQ and innovation center in Denmark, FMC demonstrates a strong conviction in the capabilities of the Danish crop industry and a commitment to the development of new sustainable solutions for the industry. By committing to strategic partnerships on regional development as well as investing heavily in innovative research, FMC has shown great initiative to drive their global agenda from here”.

Marc Hullebroeck, President, FMC Corporation Europe, Middle East, Africa, says: “We are proud and honored to receive the prestigious ‘Foreign Company of the Year 2018 Award.’ As a company that established our regional headquarters in Hørsholm in 2016 and continues to invest in our Biologicals research capabilities, this is great recognition of our exciting journey with employees, customers and partners in Denmark.”

He continues: “There were many reasons we selected Denmark for our new European Innovation Center, but high on our list was access to the local biotech network and a highly talented, technically savvy workforce. As the market for new crop protection and plant health solutions grows, we expect to continue investing in our Denmark presence.

AmCham Denmark
is proud to recognize FMC as the 2018 Foreign Company of the Year. "This prestigious award recognizes the importance and positive impact made by foreign companies investing in Denmark - which comprise only 1.2% of private sector companies, but create more than 20% of the private sector jobs," says Stephen Brugger, AmCham Executive Director.

"Foreign companies hold the key to future growth in the economy, and when they choose to invest in Denmark, it creates jobs, growth and innovation. Therefore, it is a privilege for AmCham to help foreign companies tell their success stories - and this year's finalists were four multinational companies from the absolute top drawer, who provided the jury with several great stories to choose from," adds Brugger.

AmCham would like to congratulate this year's other finalists: McDonald’s, Roche and Willis Towers Watson - who were all very qualified and made the jury's decision extremely difficult. Read about the finalists here.

FMC joins a prestigious list of previous award winners including: Medtronic (2017), Dupont (2016), Bayer (2015), Roche (2014), Biogen Idec (2013), McDonald’s (2012), Siemens (2011), Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers (2010), Iron Mountain (2009) and GlaxoSmithKline (2008).
