Ambassador Lose to Spearhead the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Danish Ambassador to the U.S. and AmCham Honorary President Lars Gert Lose has been appointed New Permanent Secretary for the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

Ambassador Lose will take on the position after Ulrik Vestergaard Knudsen, who has been appointed Deputy Secretary-General at the intergovernmental economic organization OECD in Paris after serving five years as Permanent Secretary at MFA.  

The 48-year-old Ambassador Lose will spearhead the MFA in a time with global challenges incl. a looming Brexit crisis, increased international focus on the transatlantic relations and with intensified aggressions from Russia.

Ambassador Lose will assume his new position on January 1, 2019.

About Ambassador Lose
Lars Gert Lose currently serves as Ambassador of Denmark to the United States. Prior to ariving in Washington, he held the position as Permanent Under-Secretary of State, where he served as Chief Advisor on Foreign Affairs to then-Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt. Ambassador Lose has had a long career within the Danish Foreign Ministry. He started his career in 1997 by becoming Head of Section in the EU Coordination Office. Since then, he has held a range of high-level positions with the MFA: such as Private Secretary to Minister for Foreign Affairs Per Stig Møller (2004-2008) and Head of the Foreign Minister's Office (2008-2011).
