On February 26, AmCham’s HR Committee gathered at Deloitte’s Copenhagen offices, to kick off its 2019 events program focusing on “The Employee Lifecycle”, and the importance of implementing a human capital strategy in order to achieve full employee engagement of the workforce.

For the first time in history, four generations are working side by side in the workplace. The kickoff event entitled ‘Bridging the Generation Gap’ looked at how to overcome the challenges that this new dynamic is creating in the modern workplace.

Bucks Innovate’s Dasha Marchetti set the scene for a panel discussion, by sharing some of the general characteristics of each generation in today’s diverse workplace. She then moderated the panel which featured employees at various stages in their career – along with employers from both the Pharma and IT sectors, whose job it is to balance the needs of the employee with the needs of the business for a good outcome.

Technology is also playing a role in bridging the gap, and as new technologies are constantly coming into the marketplace, it is critical that employers keep an open mind on how they communicate. Bucks Innovate’s Chief Innovation Officer Brant Steen shared how emerging technologies like video games, artificial intelligence, virtual reality and augmented reality will be utilized more and more in the future. Especially their immersive nature can help to bridge the gap between the younger and more mature workers.

The event concluded with a technology showcase, where participants got to test virtual reality technologies in varying types of applications.

Panelists included:
• Alexandra Knowles, Talent Attraction Manager, Copenhagen Capacity
• Charlotte Lundblad, VP Global HR Director, DXC Technology
• Marianne Wigant, Roche Strategic Access Manager
• Peter Hecht, Head of Marketing & Communications, Northern Europe, DXC Technology
• Rasmus Toft-Nielsen HR Director Nordic & Baltic, MSD
