More than 100 travel and tourism industry professionals attended a comprehensive See America workshop in Copenhagen on April 19. Eighteen exhibitors ran the gamut of destinations and service providers.

The event came at an auspicious time: A number of factors are coming together to create more travel to the United States now, explains See America Denmark Steering Group member Karin Gert Nielsen, managing director of Atlantic Link. She says there’s the exchange rate, Continental and Delta airlines’ new non-stop flights between the United States and Denmark are set to begin in May, and more Danes want flightdrive tours. These factors are projected to add up to a robust 2006; continuing the trend from last year, which saw a 20-percent increase in Danish travelers (there were 160,000 in total) to the United States, Nielsen says.

Surveyed participants liked the workshop, and enjoyed event presentations in particular, Nielsen says. See America is planning a similar event in Denmark’s Jutland region for fall 2006; details are forthcoming in May. See America is one of AmCham Denmark’s nine committees.
