January came with a sigh of relief from CFO’s – 2009 was finally in the history books. But 2010, though looking more optimistic, will still present challenges and a high degree of caution.
Experts shared their insights at AmCham Denmark’s February 24 Executive Forum - 2010 Corporate Finance Priorities. About 60 executives from across sectors joined the exclusive event which took place at Horten's new corporate headquarters in Hellerup.
Carsten Stendevad, global head of Citi’s Financial Strategy Group, discussed corporate finance priorities for 2010. His key message was that though there is a lot of hope, corporate budgets are still pointing to a high degree of vigilance.
Niels Peder Nielsen, Senior Partner at Bain & Company, had a clear message for companies going into 2010 – focus on your core business. With 2009 fresh in their minds, executives must ensure better alignment between business strategy and balance sheet requirements. Getting down to the core of your business is the first place to start.
In a concluding question and answer session, both speakers commented on the implication of Greece's recent financial troubles, private equity and the role of taxes in the coming years.
