AmCham Denmark, The Danish American Business Forum, and the British Chamber of Commerce came together at last to present the Heritage Foundation's James Roberts, who shared the 2012 Index of Economic Freedom. The meeting took place at the Marriott Copenhagen, where Mr. Roberts explained the findings to an inquisitive audience.
Ten components of the Heritage Foundation’s 2012 Index of Economic Freedom are measured and grouped into four pillars of economic freedom shown below:
- Rule of Law: Property rights / Freedom from corruption
- Limited Government: Fiscal freedom / Government spending
- Regulatory Efficiency: Business freedom / Labor freedom / Monetary freedom
- Open Markets: Trade freedom / Investment freedom / Financial freedom
The findings of the index showed Denmark's performance was extremely high, with the exception of Limited Government where the country scored extremely low.
The findings led to a long healthy debate on the level of need for government regulation, to which most of the participants had a lot of input!
