On April 18, more than 200 researchers, chemists, suppliers and industry experts gathered at the Scandic Copenhagen Hotel for the 12th annual Executive Seminars in Analytical Chemistry (ESAC 2012).
ESAC 2012 was sponsored by AmCham Denmark's Analytical Instruments Committee and is the result of an ongoing collaboration between six independent companies: Agilent Technologies, AB Sciex, Bruker, PerkinElmer, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Waters. The companies’ efforts culminate each year in this popular conference, which enables scientific researchers to network, share their experiences, and to learn more about the latest methods and results in their specific field of research.
This year's event featured the latest developments within Life Science/Biotech, Pharmaceutical, Food/Environment and Clinical/Forensic applications. Participants had the opportunity to choose between 24 different seminars organized in 4 parallel sessions, to visit informational booths by the progressive vendors, and to network with industry professionals.
The ESAC 2012 program was highlighted by two keynote speakers: Lars O. Dragsted, Professor in Nutrigenomics at the University of Copenhagen, who delivered a keynote speech on the topic of “Nutrigenomics of the Daily Apple” and Niels H. H. Heegaard, Director of Clinical Biochemistry & Immunology at Statens Serum Institut (SSI), who kicked off the afternoon sessions with a presentation about “Developing New Diagnostics for Human Disease using High Resolution Multianalute Techniques”.
The conference concluded with the traditional prize drawing, with this year’s winner going home with an iPad 2. Following the conference, speakers and company representatives gathered at Hellerup Park Hotel for the traditional ESAC conference dinner featuring American food and wine from the Diplomat Restaurant.
Planning is already underway for ESAC 2013.
