Roche recognized for investing and partnering to strengthen innovation within personalized medicine.

An independent jury consisting Steen Thomsen, Professor at Copenhagen Business School, Karsten Dybvad, CEO at DI and Jørgen Bardenfleth, Chairman at Symbion has selected Roche as the recipient of AmCham's 2014 Foreign Company of the Year.

By naming Roche the jury has placed particular emphasis on the company’s strong commitment to Denmark by the acquisition of Santaris Pharma as well as significant efforts in R&D and public-private partnership with Danish companies and government institutions.

Spokesman for the jury, Jørgen Bardenfleth, says: "It is very encouraging that a large international company has chosen to increase its presence in Denmark significantly". He adds: "This investment – in combination with the ability to create partnerships and innovate – shows it is possible to create and maintain high-value jobs in Denmark, while at the same time focusing on developing a great place to work."

CEO for Roche Denmark, Dr. Ronald Park expresses great pride in being awarded "Foreign Company of the Year". He says: “On behalf of the over 250 employees in Roche Denmark, we are pleased to accept this prestigious AmCham award. Roche is committed to making a difference to patients in Denmark through our innovative research, products, partnerships, and investments. We are pleased that this award recognizes the positive efforts Roche as a foreign company is bringing to Danish society and patients today”.

He continues: “Roche is very excited by the strong commitment we see from Denmark to continue making this an attractive country for investment in high quality research, innovative medicines and diagnostics. All of us look forward to continuing to work with our partners in Denmark to make a difference to patients with unmet needs.”

AmCham Denmark is proud to recognize Roche as the 2014 Foreign Company of the Year. "This prestigious award recognizes the importance and positive impact made by foreign companies investing in Denmark - which comprise only 1.2% of private sector companies, but create more than 20% of the private sector jobs," says Stephen Brugger, AmCham Executive Director.

"Foreign companies hold the key to future growth in the economy – when they choose to invest in Denmark, it will create jobs, growth and innovation. Therefore, it is a privilege for AmCham to help the foreign companies to tell their success stories - and this year's finalists provided the jury with several great stories to choose from," adds Brugger.

AmCham would like to congratulate this year's other finalists: Cisco, Medtronic, MSD, Novasol and SEB - who were all very qualified and made the jury's decision extremely difficult. Read about the finalists
