AmCham Members to Support Somali Youth Outreach 2017
During the period of July 31 - August 4, 2017, AmCham member companies will be asked to support the Somali Youth Outreach Program – an integration initiative between AmCham, the U.S. Embassy and Danish Human Appeal, which helps young Somali-Danish students focus on education and better understand the opportunities within the Danish labor market.
This year, the project will engage a select group of approximately 20 Somali-Danish teens, to pay brief, 2-hour visits to several international companies, in order to explore what it takes to succeed in a professional workplace and the opportunities it gives the individual.
"The initiative is a good example of how young people can benefit from getting closer to the companies. By visiting these exciting businesses, young people learn a lot about committing themselves an international workplace and seeing the opportunities a good education can provide them later in life," says AmCham Denmark's Stephen Brugger.
In 2016, the following companies participated: 3M, CSC, DuPont, FLSmidth, Maersk, Microsoft, Rambøll, the National Police, Siteimprove and the American Embassy. Hotel rooms in Copenhagen were supported by AC Hotel Bella Sky.
If your company is interested in hosting these students, please contact Therese Oliver, email@example.com.
