2024 Foreign Investment Summit

AmCham, in partnership with Invest in Denmark, was pleased to continue our long tradition by presenting the 2024 Foreign Investment Summit at Eigtveds Pakhus. This event highlights the important contribution that foreign companies make in Denmark. This year we focused on what Denmark can do to improve framework conditions to attract and retain foreign investments – ultimately creating new jobs and growth. A video introduction was given by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

Presentations and Roundtables
The National Investment Promotion Strategy 2024 – 2027 was presented by Vanessa Vega Saenz, the Director of Invest in Denmark. Following her presentation, Minister for Higher Education and Science, Christina Egelund gave the keynote address where she shared her thoughts and visions on Denmark’s ability to attract foreign investment. She specifically adressed talent attraction and retention, R&D investments, and the transatlantic collaboration on R&D that benefits both Denmark and the US.

Brian Wessel, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Ministry for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs contributed his thoughts on recent key developments in Danish framework conditions. This informative presentation was followed by a fireside chat with executives from prominent foreign companies doing business in Denmark, who discussed opportunities and challenges relating to the Danish framework conditions. The panel consisted of:

Tore von Würden, Country Director, Amgen
Mikael Ekman, Director of Policy and strategy, Microsoft
Jan Lillelund, CTO, IBM

The fireside chat was moderated by Darine Ghanem, General Manager, Roche.

Rounding out the event was a presentation from Louise Schack Elholm (V), the Head of the Parliamentary Business Committee on her and Venstre’s ambitions and visions for sustaining Denmark’s competitive edge.

Thanks to Invest in Denmark for helping us present this important event. And thanks to all the engaged participants and speakers who helped make this day so very interesting and valuable.
