Danish Government Presents Agreement on National Budget for 2025

The Danish government presented the finalized 2025 National Budget, enhancing the focus on welfare, green transition, and education. The Budget was agreed with the support of SF and Radikale Venstre.

Welfare Enhancements
A significant increase in funding for local governments, marking the largest boost in over 15 years, ensures improvements in healthcare, elder care, and education. Approximately 3.4 billion DKK has been allocated for better welfare services.

Green Transition
Investments will be earmarked for climate-friendly projects, including the establishment of five new nature parks and measures to achieve Denmark’s climate goals of carbon neutrality by 2045. Funds also support renewable energy exports and domestic sustainability projects.

Education and Social Support
Initiatives aim to support young people without jobs or education and provide targeted social services for vulnerable populations. Funding also addresses improving school facilities and supporting disadvantaged municipalities.

The government also emphasizes reducing bureaucracy, enabling more efficient local governance, and balancing welfare investments with tax relief measures.

“This national budget is more than just numbers and budgets. We are prioritizing areas that matter most to Danes: welfare, green transition, and security. Our goal is for next year’s budget to have a tangible and positive impact on everyday life in Denmark. Therefore, we are allocating historically significant funds to improve municipal welfare, clean our fjords and inland waters, and enhance safety for individuals across the country”, said Minister of Finance Nicolai Wammen at the announcement.
