22nd Annual Family Thanksgiving Dinner

On Sunday, November 24, AmCham held its 22nd annual Family Thanksgiving Dinner at the Copenhagen Marriott. In all, 250 adults and kids of all ages were treated to an authentic American Thanksgiving experience, complete with turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie.

Throughout the evening, kids kept busy with a variety of activities supervised by volunteers from the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS). Coca-Cola sponsored an activity room, complete with a magician, for the event. Very popular for kids and adults alike.

U.S. Ambassador Alan Leventhal welcomed guests by sharing his thoughts on celebrating Thanksgiving in Denmark. We have so much to be grateful for, including the strong foundation of our transatlantic relationship. Following dinner, DIS student speaker Tharaly Emanuel Joseph reflected on her life in Denmark, and prioritizing gratitude. And Billy Cross provided some great blues for the evening’s musical entertainment.

As always – the main feature of any Thanksgiving evening is the food, and Marriott Executive Chef Sonny Christiansen and his team did not disappoint. The authentic meal included Danish free-range turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and gravy, not to mention a scrumptious dessert buffet complete with pumpkin pie and cheesecake. Beverages included American wines from Americanwine.dk, soft drinks from Coca-Cola, and Brooklyn Beer from Nemlig.com.

The evening concluded with the highly anticipated Thanksgiving Charity Raffle, proceeds from which go towards AmCham’s Education & Integration Fund. The grand prize was two round trip tickets to New York City from Air France/KLM/Delta. Thanks to all our sponsors for their generous donations!
