AmCham Denmark Executive Director to Step Down Later This Year

The American Chamber of Commerce in Denmark (AmCham Denmark) announced today that Stephen Brugger, Executive Director, will step down from his position later in the year.

After 25 years with the organization and further to much consideration, Stephen has decided that it is time for a new professional chapter and change in life. The AmCham Denmark Executive Committee will start the search for a new executive immediately. Stephen will remain at the helm of the organization in the coming months and assist with the transition as it unfolds.

Tore von Würden, AmCham Denmark Chairman, and Country Director for Amgen, said: ‘We are deeply grateful to Stephen for his outstanding leadership and dedication to developing transatlantic trade and investments.’ Stephen has played a pivotal role in making AmCham Denmark the organization it is today – an impactful and trusted voice for American and international companies investing in Denmark and the U.S.’ He went on to say: ‘The Board is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and is looking forward to the next phase of growth and success for AmCham under Stephen’s successor.’

Stephen Brugger, Executive Director, AmCham Denmark, commented: ‘I am incredibly proud of the legacy I have built together with past and current colleagues and members. It is the right time for me to pass the baton to a new executive as the transatlantic relationship enters a new phase. I am leaving AmCham Denmark in strong shape with not only a solid membership base but importantly a fantastic reputation and a robust professional team.’ He added: ‘It has been a true honor to lead this organization, as well as exciting, challenging, fun and fulfilling. However, I am now eager to be able to dedicate more of my time, energy and passion to new projects, both personal and professional.’

Since joining AmCham as Executive Director in 2001, Stephen has dedicated nearly 25-years to strengthening Danish-American trade relations. He also played an important role in developing AmChams in Europe, the umbrella organization for 50 American Chambers of Commerce throughout Europe and Eurasia, serving in several leadership roles including as Chair from 2007 to 2011.

Note: A public reception for Stephen is being planned for the Fall and will be announced after the summer break  – so look for that invitation!
