AmCham Hosts Storytelling Workshop for Refugee Ambassadors
On May 23, AmCham Denmark hosted a ‘Storytelling on Social Media’ workshop with a group of highly-skilled refugees, who have participated in Foreningen Nydansker’s (Association New Dane) mentoring or internship programs.
The workshop is part of a Refugee Ambassador initiative by Foreningen Nydansker and the U.S. Embassy aimed at helping refugees share their personal stories on arriving in Denmark and entering the Danish job market – and thus becoming inspirational Ambassadors for these successful programs. With this workshop initiative, the goal is to inspire more companies to invite their employees to volunteer as mentor for high-skilled refugees by showcasing the great outcomes of these programs.
At the workshop, Nanna Dyrbye Benting (AmCham Denmark) shared some guidance on how to structure a story that grabs people’s attention. One key point was to keep the message short and precise – and most importantly, to not include too much details in the story. In addition, Sandra Hyo Viborg (AmCham Denmark) gave some insights on how to share a story on social media platforms such as LinkedIn – as well as how to use LinkedIn as a professional networking tool.
The workshop also included several group exercises where the Refugee Ambassadors had the opportunity test out their storytelling skills in practice.
