DK exports to U.S. increased more than 20% in 2024

Danish exports to the U.S. increased by more than 20% in 2024 compared to the year before. Furthermore, the US has become more significant, as it now accounts for 17.3% of Denmark’s total exports, up from 15.3% in 2023. Exports to the US now stand at 326 billion DKK. In the last eleven months of 2024, Denmark’s exports to European markets have been at a standstill or even declined, highlighting the importance of the American market.

President Elect Donald Trump’s tariff threats could pose a challenge to Danish exports to the US. However, the impact might be lessened due to the nature of the exports. Eighty percent of Danish exports to the U.S. are through affiliated companies, subsidiaries, services, and other exports unaffected by tariffs, and that share is growing.
