GE Healthcare Named 2026 Foreign Company of the Year

AmCham Denmark is proud to name GE HealthCare the 2026 Foreign Company of the Year, recognizing the company’s outstanding achievements in growth, investment, and partnerships in Denmark. Selected by an independent jury, GE HealthCare is recognized for its long-term commitment to Denmark as a strategic hub for innovation, advanced manufacturing, and global exports.

The jury highlighted GE HealthCare’s successful expansion of Danish medtech pioneer BK Medical following its USD 1.45 billion acquisition in 2021. Rather than consolidating operations elsewhere, GE HealthCare strengthened its Danish footprint, establishing Herlev as the company’s global center of excellence for intraoperative ultrasound. With approximately 330 employees, GE HealthCare’s team in Denmark develops and manufactures advanced ultrasound systems used by surgeons in more than 70 countries worldwide.

The company was also recognized for its strong engagement in Denmark’s healthcare and life science ecosystem through partnerships with hospitals, universities, and clinical education institutions, including recent support for the Copenhagen Academy for Medical Education and Simulation (CAMES).

“GE HealthCare demonstrates how foreign investment can create lasting value for Denmark,” said Jury Member Sanna Suvanto-Harsaae. “The jury was particularly impressed by the company’s commitment to expanding Danish innovation, manufacturing, and exports while building strong partnerships across the healthcare ecosystem.”

Commenting on the award, Mads Jørgensen, Managing Director of GE HealthCare Danmark A/S, said:

“We are honored to receive this recognition from AmCham Denmark. Denmark plays a unique role within GE HealthCare’s global organization, serving as our center of excellence for intraoperative ultrasound and home to highly specialized talent in research, engineering, and manufacturing. We are proud to develop technologies in Denmark that help improve patient outcomes around the world.”

AmCham Denmark Executive Director Mark Draper added:

“GE HealthCare exemplifies the positive impact international companies can have when they invest deeply in Denmark’s innovation ecosystem. Their commitment to innovation, high-value jobs, and strong public-private partnerships makes them a deserving recipient of this year’s Foreign Company of the Year award.”

AmCham Denmark also congratulates this year’s other highly qualified finalists for the Foreign Company of the Year award, Medtronic and Astra Zeneca.
