Ramboll Named 2019 Company of the Year
Ramboll is being recognized for its significant investments, impressive growth and a strong focus on sustainable solutions while being an active participant in the societies where the company operates.
The annual award highlights the important contributions of Danish companies investing in the U.S., and is promoted in partnership with the American-Danish Business Council in Washington.
AmCham Denmark presented the prestigious Transatlantic Company of the Year award to Ramboll at AmCham’s 2019 Transatlantic Summit on Wednesday afternoon.
An independent jury comprised of Jørgen Bardenfleth (Lyngsoe Systems et al.), Thomas Bustrup (DI) and Sanna Suvanto-Harsaae (Bo Concept, TCM, etc.) selected Ramboll from the eight award finalists, which included Ambu, Cludo, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, Haldor Topsøe, Leman, Leo Pharma, and Shark Solutions – all with great accomplishments in the United States.
Spokesperson and Chairman of the jury, Jørgen Bardenfleth noted that Ramboll has shown an impressive engagement along with growth in the U.S. for the past years.
“Ramboll has shown business excellence in generating innovative solutions for the U.S. public and private sector with a strong focus on sustainable urbanization and livable cities, being an active participant in the societies where they operate. The jury was especially impressed by the two significant U.S. investments in ENVIRON and OBG that have driven the impressive growth, but also by the fact that 15 percent of the company’s profit comes from the U.S., which makes it one of the company’s most profitable regions,” says Jørgen Bardenfleth.
In receiving the award, Ramboll’s Group CEO Jens-Peter Saul stated: “We are very delighted to be recognized by AmCham for our strategic growth journey in the U.S. market, which will continue in the future. Our ambition is to grow the company from the current 2,000 U.S. employees to 3-4,000 employees in four to five years.”
He confirms that especially the two investments have been driving the ongoing success and expansion in the U.S:
“We established our presence in the market in 2015 with the acquisition of the U.S.-based global consultancy, ENVIRON, and just before the year-end, our growth ambitions were further accelerated through the acquisition of the U.S. engineering and design consultancy OBG. With that investment, we added 900 experts within water, energy and environmental services to the company and leading to the establishment of a new Principal Business Unit in the Americas.”
Highlighting the Importance of Transatlantic Trade
According to AmCham’s Executive Director, Stephen Brugger, the purpose of the award is to highlight the importance of transatlantic trade for Denmark and to showcase the good examples for others to follow.
“The sustainability sector can be volatile, and despite the challenges in the current U.S. market, Ramboll has remained committed to the U.S. – investing massively and positioning a Danish company of the future, which we hope will serve as an inspiration to others,” he says.
AmCham congratulates Ramboll and recognizes all the finalists for their outstanding achievement.
