The Latest Danish Export Numbers to the U.S.
Despite the global pandemic that since mid-March of 2020 has had significant economic impact on both sides of the Atlantic, the export of goods from Denmark to the U.S. has increased substantially. During the first 7 months of 2020, exports increased by approximately 22 %, when compared to the same period in 2019.
The key category driving this increase continues to be ‘Chemicals’, particularly Pharmaceuticals, which account for 65 % of total exports. The Danish pharma companies drove an increase of 29 % during the abovementioned period – followed by, ‘Machinery’ with an increase of roughly 17 %, (export share of 19 %).
The total U.S. export value during this period reached DKK 6,8 bn. When comparing these numbers with Germany’s – which are DKK 6,4 bn in total export value (-17 % growth) – it becomes clear that the U.S. market is again Denmark’s number one export market.
