U.S. Expansion – An Update on Legal, Tax & Employment

For Danish companies with activities in the United States — or plans to enter — the questions are rarely abstract. How should the entity be structured? What does compliance look like when employment law varies from state to state? And where do corporate and employee tax obligations overlap in ways that catch newcomers out?

Those were the themes when AmCham Denmark members gathered in the beautiful historic surroundings of Børsen, home of Dansk Erhverv, for a session with three U.S. advisors who have spent years guiding Danish businesses through the American market.

Ed Wright, Managing Shareholder, and Loren Lunsford, Senior Associate, both of Martensen Wright PC, addressed corporate structure and employment law compliance. Leah LeLoup, CPA, Partner at Hutchinson and Bloodgood LLP, walked us trough corporate and employee tax considerations and how to optimize compliance on both sides.

The format left ample time for questions, and members took full advantage, putting their own market-entry and compliance challenges – in arguably the world’s most competitive market – directly to the three U.S. experts.

Our thanks to all members who joined us, and to our three speakers for sharing their expertise!
