U.S. Visa update: Expansion of National Interest Exception

As a follow up to our June 2 visa round-table with U.S. Ambassador Sands,  AmCham Denmark is pleased to report that on July 10, the State Department announced that certain travelers subject to Presidential Proclamations 9993 and 9996 (which suspend travel to the United States from the Schengen Area, the UK, and Ireland), may qualify for a national interest exception for non-tourist travel to the United States.  Travelers that may be an exception to the Presidential Proclamation include: Students, Business Travelers, Investors, and Academics.

Anyone who already holds a valid visa or ESTA and believes they qualify for a national interest exception to PP9993 can follow the procedures just published on the U.S. Embassy’s website to make a request  The Embassy will begin processing these requests immediately.

If you have questions please reach out to the Embassy’s Consular Section using this email address: CopenhagenNIV@state.gov
