Ministry of Foreign Affairs Launches New Invest in Denmark Strategy 2024-2027

On June 21, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Invest in Denmark launched the new Invest in Denmark Strategy 2024-2027 – a new national strategy for investment promotion. The strategy sets the direction for the overall national investment promotion effort and forms the framework for attracting, retaining, and developing foreign investments in Denmark.

Foreign investments are vital for Denmark’s growth and prosperity: foreign companies make up 3% of the total number of private companies, but they account for 20% of the jobs and around 25% of the value creation in the private sector. On top of that, when foreign companies invest in Denmark, they bring new knowledge, capital, technology, and highly skilled employees with them. This inherently creates a positive spill-over effect for Danish companies. Therefore, foreign investments are important for expanding Denmark’s talent pool and strengthening the ecosystems in the Danish business community. AmCham Denmark has been making this argument for years, and we strongly support the efforts of Invest in Denmark when it comes to attracting foreign investment.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen says: “Foreign investments can be one of the keys that enable even more growth and prosperity in Denmark. But we have to make sure that the key fits the lock we want to open. It goes without saying that some investments are better than others. Denmark must attract investments that contribute to what we are already good at. Investments that help to solve key societal challenges and at the same time ensure that our business community continues to develop. The right investments make Denmark stronger.”
