AmCham Joins Members at Folkemødet!
On June 16-18, AmCham Denmark joined member companies and the U.S. Embassy at the annual Danish democracy festival ‘Folkemødet’, which takes place on the island of Bornholm.
Following last year’s scaled-back version, this year’s festival was back to full strength, featuring more than 100,000 participants and 2,500 events.
AmCham’s recently elected Chairman Nicolai Moresco and Stephen Brugger represented AmCham at Folkemødet – attending a variety of events in line with our general purpose of strengthening the voice of international business and promoting innovation, jobs, and growth in Denmark. Additionally, AmCham member companies participated in more than 75 events at Folkemødet. See the full list here.
On Saturday afternoon, AmCham members, political stakeholders and “Friends of America” gathered at Hotel Allinge for AmCham’s ever-popular American Barbecue with special guests U.S. Chargé D’Affaires James Boughner and Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod.
Every year on the idyllic island of Bornholm, Folkemødet (The Democracy Festival of Denmark) is the platform for 4-days of dialogue and debate between civil society, politicians, business, media, universities, and citizens at large.
The festival takes place in the small town of Allinge, which is turned into a large celebration of Danish democracy with more than 2,000 political events organized by 650 different organizations. The Democracy Festival of Denmark has become an important democratic event in Denmark with the purpose of creating informal meetings and dialogue between decision makers and citizens. Read more at:
