AmCham’s Annual Family Thanksgiving Dinner

On Sunday, November 20, AmCham held its 20th annual Family Thanksgiving Dinner at the Copenhagen Marriott. In all, around 260 adults and kids of all ages were treated to an authentic American Thanksgiving experience, complete with turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie.

Throughout the evening, kids kept busy with a variety of activities supervised by volunteers from the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS).

Coca-Cola sponsored an activity room for the event, which was popular for kids and adults alike.

U.S. Ambassador Alan Leventhal kicked off the program by welcoming guests by sharing his thoughts on celebrating Thanksgiving in Denmark – and all that we have to be grateful for.

Following dinner, DIS student speaker Stephanie Dose reflected on her life in Denmark and the things that she was thankful for since coming here. The evening’s musical entertainment was provided by female choir UngKlang.

The main feature of any Thanksgiving evening is the food, and Marriott Chef Mikkel Espensen and his team did not disappoint. The authentic meal included Danish free-range turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and gravy, not to mention a scrumptious dessert buffet complete with pumpkin pie and cheesecake. Beverages included American wines from Americanwine.dk, soft drinks from Coca-Cola, Brooklyn Beer from Nemlig.com and non-alcoholic cocktails were provided by new AmCham member, Ish.

The evening concluded with the highly anticipated Thanksgiving Charity Raffle, proceeds from which go towards AmCham’s Education & Integration Fund. The grand prizes were round trip tickets for two to the continental USA from Air France/KLM/Delta.
