Denmark Welcomes King Frederik X
On Sunday, January 14, thousands came from all over the country to see King Frederik X. New King Frederik X was overwhelmed by emotions and visibly happy when he received the people’s tribute at Christiansborg Castle Square.
After Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen had proclaimed King Frederik X as the new regent with three declarations, the new king spoke in front of a jam-packed palace square where many thousands of people had gathered.
“My hope is to become a unifying king of tomorrow,” said the new king.
He expressed his great thanks and recognition of his mother and continued:
“I will need all the support I can get from my beloved wife, my family, from you and from what is bigger than us,” said Frederik X and was met with great cheers from the crowd.
“I face the future with the certainty that I am not alone.”

The king concluded his short speech by revealing his royal motto:
“Bonded, committed, for the Kingdom of Denmark,” said King Frederik X.
Australia’s Queen Mary stepped out onto the balcony and received the people’s tribute. Soon after, the regents’ four children came and greeted the many, many people present.
