Red Newt Cellars is located by Seneca Lake in New York State. Seneca Lake is a part of the large Fingers Lakes, which is made up of several smaller lakes that looks like fingers. Seneca Lake is the largest and deepest of the 11 fingers in Fingers Lakes.

Due to the cool weather in the area, cold climate wines like Riesling are the dominant grape on many wineries including Red Newt Cellars. Aside from Riesling they also produce Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer.

Red Newt Winery produces some of the best Riesling in the area. Robert Parker grades this wine with 91 points and says: “This is impressive, tightly-wound, very crisp and filled with energy. This very serious, very precise Dry Riesling is a beauty, if you like them very dry. It should age well, but take that in stages and make sure you have good storage.”

A delicious fresh Riesling which is the perfect accompaniment to steamed fish, crab cake and sushi.
